should i get a sewing machine?

i had wanted a scroll saw. i had decided i needed a scroll saw and then rob talked me out of it. he was very rational and the winning argument was that i won't really ever be able to use it right now or more that i won't want to use a scroll saw much because i like being around dmitri and there is no way i would be able to get any work done with a scroll saw while dmitri is hanging out with/near me. i do plan on eventually getting a scroll saw though just not at this point and time. i have been thinking about other crafty things i could do and right now i'm not sure i can get a whole lot of sewing with a sewing machine done with dmitri either but i can sew inside and use the kitchen table with i could not do with a scroll saw and a sewing machine is a lot safer and i think very soon i will be able to do a little sewing here and there and dmitri will be ok with that. so i am trying to decide not so much if i should get a sewing machine but if now is a good time to get a sewing machine. should i wait a few months since i probably won't get to sew a whole lot now or should i get one now and do a little sewing when rob is around...

maybe i should just stick to knitting for a few months. for what it is worth i found the sewing machine i think i would buy if buying one now refurbished for 75 dollars which we could afford but if i wait i may be able to get a better one or a better price on that one.

the problems of creativity

i have been playing with inkscape and having a lot of fun. but whenever i get into something i also get insomnia. when i was pregnant i got into the Beatles and then i found i couldn't stop analyzing their songs when i tried to sleep so i stopped listening to the Beatles and the insomnia went away. the problem gets worse the more creativity whatever i am into entails. i have been having a creative burst recently and as a result i have not been sleeping well and so now i am a sleepy mama who it trying to take care of and watch a very awake 15 month old who is getting into everything and climbing on everything and chasing kitties and oh my. but hey look at the quail i created with inkscape!

it has been years since i really sat down and played around with any digital art stuff but i have been playing with gimp and inkscape. so far i made these

i'm starting off the new year feeling creative. i have been playing in gimp with pictures of quails and also drawing them freehand. i have thoughts that i may get a yard of fabric from spoonflower with quails on it to turn into quail pillow dolls. i want to do some block print quails as well. i also got yarn yesterday! i decided to do a freehand headband/ear warmer with the brown yarn i got and then actually *gasp* follow some patterns and knit green leafs to decorate it with. dmitri is also starting off the new year in an artsy way and today he did his most scribbly scribble yet and later i hope to get it scanned so i can show off the fabulous scribble he has done!
